My path to becoming a wedding painter in Hawaiʻi
For as long as I can remember, I have been making art. I come from a family of artists and grew up surrounded by creativity. After graduating university in 2014, I moved to Honduras to teach, and completely fell in love with travelling and exploring life abroad. Over the following years I lived in and travelled to countries across the globe, always with art as part of my life. In 2022, while working as a non-profit leader in Anchorage, Alaska, I began drawing and painting again in the evenings. The dramatic Alaskan landscape reignited a desire to create that I hadn't felt in years. I started taking commissions, building a portfolio, and quietly building toward an art career. Moving to Maui changed everything. The islands, the colour of the water, the volcanic landscapes, the golden-hour light, inspired me in a way nowhere else had. It was here, in Hawaiʻi, that I painted my first destination wedding in 2025. Standing at my easel as a couple exchanged vows at a Maui venue, painting their ceremony in real time, I knew this was exactly what I was meant to do.
